I’ve just started playing around with WL12, and so far this looks like a solid update. There’s a lot to like. However, I noticed one little thing that was somewhat annoying. While the WL11 preferences imported almost perfectly (just some layout things didn’t transfer verbatim), the plugin list was reset. This meant that my carefully curated list of plugins put into categories (Master, playback etc), or excluded, had to be redone. Hrmf.
Ok, you only have to do this once (per installed system), but it’s annoying nonetheless., especially if you have a lot of plugins – like the most of us. Fix this in .10?
That aside, one feature that is sorely missing from this is the ability to un-include a whole category/vendor. For instance, I’m not going to use anything from Soundtoys or Glitchmachines in WL. Having to expand and 3x de-tick every plugin is grating. Can we have a chekcbox at the root level?
That’s indeed helpful, and does somewhat alleviate the otherwise quite cumbersome click-fest. This did make setting up my second system a lot quicker (although I do wish the prefs import had taken care of it for me – grumble, grumble )
A quick test: using (copying) the WL11 plugin settings didn’t work, WL12 seems to ignore it. Very odd. Oh well, if I’m the only one experiencing this, I’ve redone both my systems (Win 10 & 11) now and I’m good to go.
The same thing happened on mine (macos 13.6.3)…none of the plugin preferences transferred. But, it wasn’t that big of a deal.
I kinda wanted to go through it and exclude some plugins anyway but had been lazy. Having an even more too big list motivated me to do it. Sadly, I did that before I tried to copy the settings file. So, can’t confirm or deny that one unless you specifically want it, PG.
