I’m having an issue with WL13, which I just moved to from WL12, but in the Album Wizard, I’m unable to change the default preset. I have tried saving my templates with my preset selected, but when I shut down WL, it always defaults back to ‘Factory Default Settings.’ I’m unable to save my settings and replace the Factory Default Settings preset and don’t even see it as a selection in the folder of presets. I don’t have an option to save my preset as the new default, either. I’m running on a MacBook Pro with M5 chips, and it runs on OSX Tahoe. WL13 version 13.0.20. This wasn’t a problem on WL12, so maybe there’s a new setting somewhere I’m missing to allow me to change the factory default…?
The album wizard settings are saved with the audio montage.
If you want to have some default settings, use an audio montage template that contains those settings.
Hi PG, yes, I’ve tried doing that a number of times. I create a montage template, and select the Album Wizard preset that I want to function by default. I save that to a folder and then close WL. When I launch WL again and use that montage template as the starting point, when I launch the Album Wizard, it goes to a Factory Default Settings state with different things selected. My preset is in the list, but there is no way for me to select it to be used by default. I am creating the template from the menu, and my templates from WL12 never did this.
When I am navigating to the folder containing the presets (from the Organize link in WL), the folder containing them is called ‘CD Wizard,’ in stead of ‘Album Wizard.’ Does that matter? Also - there is no ‘Factory Default Settings’ preset in that list of files. There is one named ‘__last’ but the rest of the files in that folder are ones that I’ve created. Let me know if any of that means anything to you…
Ok. This is working, but I’m not completely sure why the montages (not template files, but what I’ve used as session templates) aren’t working like this. I’ll just make a new set of template sessions now and work from these. I was thinking you were meaning that I needed to make new montage template files in WL13, but anyway - thanks so much for your help and always fielding so many questions from users. Hi PG - jumping back in that things are not saving. It did seem to work yesterday, but today it isn’t at all. To talk you through what I’m doing: I am creating a new regular montage that is empty, with no clips. I set up the Album Wizard how I want it to be by default, but I do not save a preset or anything - I just set it like I want. Then I have tried two things: 1) just save that session as a session that I copy and use as a starting template empty montage; and 2) save the session as a montage template - also as a starting point. Both of these processes launch sessions with the wrong settings by default, and it reverts to some other factory default settings. Do you see where I’m going wrong at all? Is there a setting where i need to allow the montage to also save settings for the album wizard?
Actually - here is something that is odd: when I launch the template session that I’ve created, it does work properly and the settings are in tact. But I copy the session into a new project folder and after the template has been copied and pasted, it does not retain the settings. Are there additional files/folders that are saved along with a montage template that are the missing link that are not being copied in the process, or does the montage template contain all of the info itself?
“Session” is not a term used in the WaveLab terminology. Hence, I am not sure what you mean.
Album Wizard templates are not saved with a project. They are saved within a montage.

Sorry - I’m trying to use the word template, but there is a filetype of montage template, and also a montage that is being used as a template, so I’m trying to be clear between them, unsuccessfully. I have followed the steps above, and the montage template that I create from the normal montage containing the settings that I want to be used by default, does indeed launch with the appropriate settings. When I copy that file (the montage template that I created) into a new location with new files I am given, the settings somehow revert to factory defaults. I can launch the montage template and the settings are correct. When I copy and paste to a new location, and then launch the same montage template, the settings are different. So does the montage template save the settings by itself, or does the system.mon folder containing matching .anc files need to be copied as well? I’ve never needed to copy two things over in WL12 because I used a normal montage for this setup, but this system.mon folder appears to be created with the montage template.
Montage templates are not meant to be copied. They are under the control of WaveLab. A template consists of more than one file.
You should use the montage templates from where you can find them in WaveLab, not from elsewhere.
