So this is a problem for me having to go into several windows to rename instruments constantly , because Dorico doesn’t recognize in the mixer window that I’ve changed the numbering of 16 Violins to Arabic numbers .
After doing so Dorico doesn’t recognize the Arabic number 11 for some strange reason and instead just re-numbers 11 as 1 and so on and so on after you change that instrument then you have to change the next instrument …
Then I have to go into the mixer dialog window and renumber every instrument .
Is there a way to Arabic numbering set to default ?
Otherwise I simply adore Dorico 6 Pro after being involved in this digital evolution for the past 40 years I have to say Dorico and Cubase are by far the superior software platforms available today .

Yes thank you I know how to change the numbering but the default is Roman not Arabic .
Every time I have to reset to Arabic in a new piece (this is the bothersome problem)
It’s not a just change the settings and go there are a lot more things that have to be changed as well .
Any time you find settings that you like better than the factory defaults, click the Save as Default button:
Now whenever you start a new file from File / New, it will automatically load all of your settings.
You can save your Engraving Options as default:

One important thing to be aware of is that the Save as Default button in Options dialogs saves all of the options in that dialog, and you may have other things you’ve set in that project that you don’t want to save.
When you want to add a single setting (or a few settings) to your defaults, the best thing to do is to start a new project with Ctrl/Cmd+N, change just the settings you want, and click Save as Default.
