Workflow Advice/Tips/Tricks: Chopping Jungle/DnB Drums

When it comes to sample-based music and chopping drums, all of my experience has been in the hardware realm with machines such as the Roland SP-404 and the Akai MPC. Recently I’ve decided to dip my toes into more advanced sample-based electronic music in the styles of Jungle, DnB, etc.. However, I’ve found the process of chopping/editing drum breaks/chops in Cubase to be a little cumbersome and not quite as seamless as I would hope it would be in the software realm. I just don’t gel with the layout and functionality (or lack thereof) of the Sampler Track. Groove Agent feels rather clunky and its default behaviors don’t feel very streamlined or user friendly. I realize it’s mainly just a skill issue, but I also generally just feel as if these tools may not be for me and the way that I think about making this type of music. BUT, I’m willing to potentially learn to use them and figure out ways to make them just as seamless as any other sampling tools provided by any other DAW.

My question is/TLDR: For those that make rhythmic sample-based electronic music with break-based drums, what is your workflow for chopping and editing breaks/chops? What Cubase-specific tools/plugins (if any) do you use and how? How have you modified the default settings/configurations of these tools to better suit your needs and improve your workflow? Or do you prefer 3rd party plugins for sampling purposes? Tell me everything!

If you only need to chop and not require some pitch or filter envelopes then I would not use a sampler track.
Instead I would use an audio track and the hitpoint functionality. Cubase can produce hitpoints automatically and you can edit them semi-automatically or manually. In the end you can chop the audio into events.
For rearranging the events you can turn on Shuffle mode.
