I was merely proposing the use of alternative text because the feature already exists, whereas entering multiple playing techniques at a time does not already exist. If dorico does not recognize a playing technique, I think it should still print. It might be a better solution for playing techniques that dorico does not recognize like “pizz. trem.” or “superball mallet” on percussion. But once again, I have no concern as to how the program works, I just want to be able to use it with ease.

All I was saying is that, based on what they have done previously, I suspect they will be looking for a way to fix this in a more holistic way, not just a quick fix that will never work with playback. When they added the harmonics features you referenced without playback working at first, it was a feature where they could easily get it to work with playback later. Alternative text is something they would never get working with playback, at least not without huge changes to the program structure.

For techniques like “superball mallet” and “pizz. trem.” that do not exist, I rather like dankreider’s idea to display a quick popup window saying “superball mallet playing technique does not exist, would you like to create it?” and being able to just press ENTER again for yes.
