Wrong number of beats in bars (in one instrumental part only)

Hello,

Really enjoying Dorico! But I’m currently having an issue and haven’t been able to find anything online.

In one of my instrumental parts, a couple bars are missing beats/rests (bars 28 and 36 in the screenshot).

I only have this issue with this specific part, full score and other parts are correct, and there are no weird signposts hidden in there.

I am also wondering if there’s a clever way to swap the instrument change warning (“To Gui.”) with an actual instrument label (“Guiro”). I could of course create the label with shift+X, but I can’t seem to hide the change warning.

Thanks a lot!

Did you add local time signatures in this part? Or was this an xml import?

No local signatures or xml import - it’s the part that Dorico extracted from the full score… it’s very strange!

I don’t believe that is possible. (You will only see if these are local time signatures by examining the full score and comparing them with other players. If you select a time signature in one part and others do not turn orange, or some remain black, then you have local time signatures)

If I remember correctly, there can be issues with rests not appearing when you have an instrument change between unpitched percussion instruments. Search the forum, you should be able to find previous discussions on the topic.

As for the instrument change labels, check in Layout Options for relevant settings.

Hi @A_Balency-Bearn , following @Lillie_Harris suggestion, I found that with these two (red highlighted) options, the instrument change is what you want and you have also the eight rest back:

Hi Christian,

Thanks so much for this, it worked! I don’t have the “When instrument transitions are close:” option (I’m on Dorico 5) but I realised that in the instumental part, I had the “Instrument transition position” set to “After last note in old instrument”. Changed that to “Before first note…” and it restored the missing beats! Uploading image in case it’s useful to others.

Thanks again!
