wrong translation for treble

Hi, I predict that ‘treble’ is translated into ‘Violin’ in the German instrument list for singers. I love, when Violins play cantabile …

Thinking of the correct translation, I am not sure, what treble exactly means. Is it always a boy (than it would be translated as “Knabe”) or a child (“Kinderstimme”).

Is there any possibility that you’ve Saved as Default a change of instrument name? That’s the usual cause of this problem…

No, I haven’t changed anything here.

I’ll pass this feedback on to our German translator for his consideration.

In English, it could be either a boy or a child. Sometimes it just means “the highest part” even when that is sung by adults.

Originally it meant the “third” part added added to (including) the Cantus Firmus.
