I’ve been playing with x-stream and I’ve been getting frustrated.
So I’ve dragged a sample and dropped it over one in an existing patch… and it sounds exactly the same when I press the same note on the keyboard. I’ve gone on and twiddled various parameters on various pages, and still it sounds the same.
I don’t see anything in the manual about creating user patches either.
The situation you’ve described (no changes from edits) suggests that the the active track or preset being played back is not the one you’re editing. If you’re learning to use X-Stream I would suggest opening Halion Sonic in stand-alone, and load one only preset, and play with (edit) it.
The X-Stream manual is here:
It appears to cover various ways of editing parameters to make a user preset (patch).
Save a preset by hovering the mouse over the current preset name (preset names at left side of screen, numbered 1-16), which will bring up little icons for Load Program and Save Program. Hit Save Program and enter your preset name.
Thanks Paul. I did mention in my post that I’d already read the manual. Anyways, the answer seems to be to create a new spectral synth from the landing page – i.e. the bare Halion that presents when you first load it to a track.
