I’ve been exporting files from Finale as XML and importing them into Dorico. For the most part it works very well. There is, however, one area that I and the copyist/engraver I’ve been working with find problematic:
Upon import from an XML file, Dorico “intelligently” groups and links dynamics (which is not something that exists in Finale), but it overdoes it, leading to a ton of time spent ungrouping and unlinking. And in the process of ungrouping and unlinking, hairpins that were lining up beautifully with immediate dynamics are suddenly unaligned.
Is there a way to set up an import of an XML so that the alignment of dynamics is preserved but they are NOT grouped and linked?
