Xml export from cubase

I seem to have a problem exporting drum tracks from cubase 15 into sibelius, exporting as xml.

it looks fine in cubase, but in sibelius the voices (drums sounds) get mixed up.

using the same drummap and exporting from cubase 13 into sibelius does give the correct result.

i can also read back the xml into cubase and the result is correct.

but something has changed from cubase 13 to 15 in the xml export and sibelius doesn’t like it.

Hi @MichelvL, welcome to the forum. The MusicXML import and export have changed significantly in version 14/15, because the Score Editor is now using the Dorico technology platform. In fact, I’d recommend you to ask this question on the Dorico forum. There are likely more users with a workflow that involves Sibelius.
Please attach the MusicXML file itself (an extract with just a couple of bars will suffice), ideally also a Dorico file. Cubase does provide this from the Export menu.

thanks, I’ll look at it tonight, rehearsal now, first song written in c15. but I’m solely on Sibelius! I’ll send a file later. There was nothing on the Sibelius forums

Hi Stefan,

for your information I include C13 and C15 xml files and a dorico project, all of the same bars. I see now that C15 exports musicxml 4.0 files, and as far as I can tell Sibelius only supports 3.0. I see no option in C15 to export 3.0 or lower (C13 seems to use xml 1.0).

tonight did a new song with my big band created over the last weekend using C15 and the xml it produced. since it was a race to have it finished in time (having to get used to C15 as well) had no time to check if everything was all right, but it seems all was fine, even though it was xml 4.0. But I didn’t need the drum part as the drummer was ill!

my workaround now is to use C13 to export the drumtrack. Not very ideal, I will need to update my MacOS at sometime, and I doubt that C13 will run under Tahoe. Or I could try using my old Mac, but don’t know if my license would still be valid (I think I have C11 there)
