On import I am getting 4 extra channels 1-4 assigned to General MIDI. How to I delete them or re-assign so I can get the sounds from HALion?
Did you manually assign the VSTs? Were there other instruments there before?
You can re-apply the Playback Template, and Dorico will start from 1.
No. Yes. I applied several playback templates and all I have is General MIDI piano on every voice because they were assigned that way on import. Should I import as MIDI, then assign?
I should also say that I moved the libraries to another drive. Perhaps they aren’t properly mapped.
Definitely Not!
Presumably, the instruments in the XML file were defined as pianos for some reason. (I believe Dorico sets undefined instruments as Flutes.)
The best course of action is to Change the Instrument. Click on the little > to reveal the Player’s instrument(s), and click on the … to get the menu.
Then reselect the correct instrument, and the correct samples will get loaded from your currently assigned playback template.
Then re-apply the template if you want to ‘tidy up’ any left over VSTs/channels.
