I have attached an XML file I created in Photoscore that I attempted to import into Dorico. When I finished it up in Photoscore, it looks all correct. (Granted, I know that app’s exporting isn’t perfect and has some issues.) However, when I import into Dorico, it leaves the second voice out in the top piano line after about the 4th page. However–it doesn’t just leave it out all the time. Some points in the score, the second voice is just gone. In others, it turns everything into rests–in the exact rhythm it should be-but rests . The same thing happened when I tried importing into MuseScore. When I opened the same xml in Finale–everything was fine. I then exported an xml from there and Dorico opened it fine with all the notes there. I have completed the project I wanted with this, but I’m now more curious than anything as to why this could happen. I did get “validation errors” when importing…but not sure how to decipher.
Photoscore does help but needs to be used with caution. For instance, on bar 261, the second voice starts a 8th notes tuplet on the second 8th note of the bar — I find this quite suspicions.
Here’s the dolet export from Sibelius (with some 2nd voices):
Here you go! If I missed correcting something to throw the whole thing off, that would at least help explain things. Or…maybe just some further unreliability with Photoscore.
Yes–I got errors in all three apps I imported it to. It’s just hard to decipher those errors. Line 25265 doesn’t really match up with a measure, for example. The only one that worked after all was said and done was the Finale import. Everything showed up there despite the errors. I was able to export to a new xml and then work with it fine in Dorico.
