Hi have been sent some XMl files that have been generated by Sibelius. When I remove the lower stave with the rhythmic notation, I seem to lose a lot of information.
I am cutting and pasting from the XML document into another Dorico template. Kinda new to doing this so any tips to speed things up would be a big help.
Hi! It’s a very good idea to ask for help, as this can be more tricky than it seems.
Can you post the starting project? (We all come from different apps, so chances are we can open a Sibelius, Finale or whatever file) that way we can guide you.
Here’s the XML opened in Dorico - thanks Marc!

Hi @dazzjazz, you can reset the cross staff notes, and then filter for bottom notes and move them (mostly slashed notes) to the staff below and then clean all up with a couple of other clicks
.
I made a 3:42 minutes video to explain these first steps and a couple of layout tips. I hope it can be helpful:
Add-On: another thing that I would make, among others, is reset beams (in Write mode Select all>right click>Beams>Reset beams
The strange imported beamings and also the imported system and frame breaks, can be avoided by deactivating the corresponding checkmarks in Dorico’s Preferences/Music XML to make Dorico handle them automatically.
I would uncheck all the checkmarks there,
Then deactivate the visibility of the Flow heading from Layout options/Page Setup/Flows (since you have only one flow)
etc.etc…
Edit:
since I was at it, here a cleaned-up version of the project (is just a suggestion):

Thanks very Christian, that’s a big help! Will give it a go on the other files I have been sent.
