today I have a question regarding Workflow with XML Import.
I’m facing a pretty big and very time sensible orchestration gig.
I will get XML files with sketches from the composer and have to orchestrate them for a big orchestra.
My question is: how can I get the XML Sketches as quickly as possible into my Orchestration template. The Instrumentation in the XMLs differes from number to number and never matches the instrumentation of the template.
I somehow get it to work, but every inside view from orchestrators that are more used to work this way would be highly appreciated!
At the moment I open them as a different document, and then copy them staff by staff (or group, if it fits).
I was just curious if there is a more streamlined workflow, that I’m not seeing right now , where I can import, for example, the form, time signatures etc…
I would simply import the xml into the orchestration template using the create new players option.
Then in Setup, I would then put those new players into a group (to keep them separate from the real players) and add the relevant existing players to the new flow.
You can then use copy/paste/explode etc to move notes from the xml to your orchestration instruments. The overall structure, time signatures tempi, rehearsal marks etc. will all arrive with the import.
