I wanted to share a rather funny (and slightly annoying) discovery I made with the new Yamaha CC1.
If you enable the Cubase integration pages in the CC1 Control Center, the software spawns a background process named cubase (or cubase.exe) under Windows.
The problem? Third-party managers like Waves Central or Arturia Software Center constantly scan active processes to ensure no DAW is running before performing updates. Because of Yamaha’s naming choice, these managers think Cubase is actually open and will completely block any installation or update, asking you to close your DAW.
The workaround is very “old school” but simple:
You just need to close the Yamaha CC1 Control Center application while running your Arturia or Waves updates, and everything works fine again.
Just thought I’d share this here to save some headache for anyone wondering why their update managers are acting up when Cubase is clearly closed!
And now with its last firmware (1.3) and control center, Yamaha introduces more internal presets for Mixkey and other Yamaha products.
But it also creates more background process and one of them related to Mixkey, CCSDPluginForMixKey, won’t stop normally when shutting down W11, we get an error pop-up… which finally disappears.
The blocking ‘cubase’ background process is still here…
