Has a MIDI Remote Script already been created for the YAMAHA CC1, or is anyone working on one?
I think this question is important for those who haven’t yet decided on a controller.
I don’t have a CC1, but out of curiosity I looked at the documentation. To even be able to write a MIDI remote script, you have to look for the “MIDI Implementation” in the documentation. That’s been standard since 1982 on every even (cheap) MIDI device.
But in the CC1 documentation there’s no “MIDI Implementation” to be found (= something I’ve never seen before). So the question is whether the CC1 can even send or receive MIDI directly? From what it looks like, the CC1 can’t do that. Maybe someone who has a CC1 and is technically savvy can provide more details. For example, what does a MIDI monitor show when you move the fader on the CC1?
I read in some other thread that the CC1 is using the old undocumented software interface of the old CC121 and this matches the current installation of the CC1 because Yamaha don’t ship it with a remote API script. The device isn’t even listed in Cubase/Nuendo interfaces as the CC121.
I would assume even if it would be somehow possible to intercept the messages, it would cause conflict with the drivers after reinstallation of a new version of the drivers.
Why Yamaha made this decision also with the very cryptic profile implementations in CC1 control center is a good question… perhaps it was faster/cheaper development?
In Cubase I don’t see an easy way to monitor the messages… I don’t know if the commands are sent via MIDI. The virtual MIDI ports of the CC1 I have disabled completely in the MIDI connection settings and the controller doesn’t behave different.
Like already stated in another thread: the CC1 is based on the Elgato Streamdeck platform and software (CC1 / Hardware side). The Streamdeck infrastructure allows theoretically to do everything: sending key-commands, OS-commands, midi signals, OSC… whatever you want to implement. So, it’s incredibly flexible.
The connection from the Streamdeck software to Cubase is implemented by using a streamdeck/Cubase SKI platform plugin. The today’s software forsees a midi implementation but not finished/released yet. So an implmentation to use midi remote scripts is possible in future.
What I observed compared to the Faderport: the Fader reacts way faster to changed in the software…
I know that there is big software updates comming later this year. No clue why the software and improvements are comming that slow. Maybe caused by the cooperation between Elgato and Yamaha?
