For the moment, I don’t think so. Realy, Yamaha released this too soon. The hardware is there and is super. But the whole programming needs to start yet.
Only the stream deck page is programmable right now. That’s it.
Probably a software update can solve a lot of things: if you could programm every knob and function to your own need, this could be a nice piece of gear.
On the other hand: for testing I connected three controllers at my Mac; Avid dock, Nektar CS12 and Yamaha CC1. the Yamaha was responding the fastest to fader movements or all three. The others were just behind a bit. And the loudest was the CS12.
I had a Nektar controller - I used it sparingly and kept it covered when not in use, all the knobs went sticky, they told me to buy a specific cleaner, I did, it didn’t work, they told me I could buy more knobs from reverb. I wouldn’t touch their crap with your money.
Biodegradation……its especially bad on poorly manufactured ‘rubberised’ coatings when oils from fingers start a process of reaction where the rubber breaks down. It’s horrible when it happens. I had to remove the rubber coating of the Mod/pitch wheels on my Sub37 because rubber went sticky (Use Isopropyl alcohol ). I prefer the smooth black plastic now anyway!
Given the lack of use on my part and the consistency of stickiness across all of the coating of all the rubberized knobs it was not just oil from fingers- I’m pretty sure Nektar acknowledged it being an issue but I missed out. There are plenty of companies (or maybe a few) that aren’t dicks about taking responsibility for their flaws.
As i Said “its especially bad on poorly manufactured ‘rubberised’ coatings” UV can also have an affect. Seen rubber problems on very expensive products too.
I’ve being seeing the CC1 controller today at ISE (Barcelona). It looks very well constructed and feels very good. The product specialist has shown me a software version that allows to customize everything adding so many pages as you need.
I’m not sure. Maybe four first fixed pages and after them all you want. The list of commands seemed very complete, but not sure if all assignable commands are available to the deck.
What I saw is you can pass a high number of pages with lots of icon and commands I didn’t saw in the presentation video.
Having tested the unit already, I’m pretty sure that you were seeing the StreamDeck pages. The rotary knobs etc. seem to be assigned with fixed parameters, though.
I have mine for a couple days, the Project Control and Midi Compose buttons do no work at all, but the first 3 buttons from the left they do on these pages. I have not installed Steam deck, is this the same for you? Is there something I am missing, mac osx 15 cubase 14. Thank you
Mine will be go back to Thomann tomorrow… I still have my Avid Dock. And the integration of Eucon and Nuendo is in my opinion still the best. The CC1 would need a big update to match that.
I also have 2 Stream Decks and a Loupedeck, so that part of the CC1 is also not needed for me.
As always: all depends on your workflow, what you look for in a controller and which gear you have. One piece of gear always needs to be look at in a bigger context, which is different for everyone. In my case: the CC1 is not a winner.
This was my exact conclusion. I already requested a return. Love the concept but man, the software is useless as it is, and even the extension caused Nuendo to crash constantly (when also using Metagrid on iPad).
Definitely released prematurely. I think this could affect sales long term if they don’t fix it quickly. I hope they do.
