Interesting that the guy - Alan Macpherson - who will head up this newly merged Yamaha Professional Audio division was previously Director of Steinberg North America (2008-??).

Alan is a cool guy, glad to see he’s up front on this.
IMHO
moves like this are rarely done to improve the product.
Moves like this are more likely done to improve the company bottom line.
That being said;
let’s hope this is one of those situations that does both.
