Yay for Coloured Accidentals!

Just want to say what a great feature the new Coloured Accidentals is.

It’s exactly the kind of “didn’t know I needed it” feature that Dorico does so well.

Being able to highlight cautionaries and manually adjusted accidentals will be a massive boon in proof-reading and editing.

Well, I did know I needed it, and I’m also quite happy with this seemingly unremarkable improvement.

But you remarked upon it!

Yeah, somtimes seemingly small “quality of life” improvements make a great difference!

Exactly what I wanted to say, Ben, on reading about the feature – and I haven’t even used it yet!

so thanks Dorico-team!

I can finally close out this old feature request!

Is there also a way to colour fingerings?

Note that the accidental colouring I’m describing is on-screen only, for checking purposes.

There’s no way to actually colour fingerings (or accidentals) on the printed page.

(Well, in fact, you can print the page with the “View Options”, and get signposts, and coloured notes for ranges, etc. But… )

Thanks. I rarely print music, I just read from the screen. I thought there might be a way to colour fingerings on screen, rather as you might use a highlighter pen if you had a printout.

A most excellent function. Proofing is a huge time consumer. This reduces the time considerably.

The other obvious one in the same vein would be redundant dynamic markings. I suffer more from this than accidentals personally, but this is certainly very useful.

For me, the next step would be highlighting if a particular marking was entered with Alt-Enter and therefore only applies to a certain voice. (I actually don’t know where you would find this information at all…)

The obvious thing would be to display it in the same colour as the notes in that voice.

I brought up that idea last August. No response from the Team so far.
For dynamics, currently, I suppose the key editor is one way … (but not convenient).
