Hi, latest cubase 14 here (Windows 11). I think this happened to me in the past. but probably rarely (although I’m not using midi/instrument-track recording a lot - mainly recording audio).
Have a look at the following screenshot:
Do you see those two gray notes. I recorded them. If I left-click on them they have a sound. If I left-click on those they make a sound. They have propeties (see screenshot below is for example what I see in the info line if I select the left gray note)
![]()
However, those notes seem to not belong to anything - to any part (!?) See screenshot below:

They are not hiding. They are simlpy seems to not be contained by anything (see both screenshot above and below)
Restarting cubase doesn’t help.
I will now copy the entire project folder aside. @Martin.Jirsak I can send it to Steinberg if they are interested.
Any chance I’m doing something wrong and there is a simple explanation? Or is it a bug?
Thanks!
Erez
EDIT (1) Seems I cannot “correct” this track’s behavior (even not by duplicating the track and using the duplicate) (2) This is an instrument track (not a “MIDI” track) and the instrument is Padshop (3) In case it matters, see below for how my midi recording is set up
