Currently, using the middle mouse button and dragging turns on the grab tool and you can move things horizontally. This is great. However, moving up and down should Zoom in/out on whatever you click.
You would lose the ability to grab and drag up and down, but it’s easy enough to scroll, and harder to zoom.
It’s difficult to get a good view if one hand is on a midi keyboard and the other is on the mouse. Currently you need to use both hands to zoom, this isn’t right.
In general, I think extensive user control over what mouse wheel actions do should be offered. I find that what I really want is to scroll laterally in the key editor and tempo editor without having to use the shift key. My needs for horizontal scrolling is far less frequent and I wouldn’t mind having to press shift for that action. If we had user-customizable scroll-wheel actions, both you and I could have our wishes met.
Agreed. Maybe the formal feature request should have been ‘Mouse buttons in the key command editor’ so we can all customize it the way we like.
Just in case you don’t know already tho, you know about middle mouse click to grab and move horizontally right? It works pretty well for small scrolls.
