Née Smythe! Née Shakespeare!
The “Know it all” tag is ironic!
Windows 10, Cubase 13/14
i9 12900K, AMD 7900 XTX, RME AIO, 49’’ Asus Argon monitor, M-AUDIO BX3 speakers, Audio-Technica M50x headphones, yada yada.
Started with an acoustic guitar in 1969. The strings had 2 (two) gauges - 3 were thick, 3 were thin.
Bought strings, pitch pipes, and a Burt Weedon teach yourself guitar book.
In two years I became an international prodigy and entertained millions around the world.
I may have dreamed that last bit.
Had a 3-inch portable reel-to-reel tape recorder, began to record my wonderful strummings.
Bought an Akai DS4000 - Over dubbing! Now I could hear 2 of me, double the fun!
By the middle 80s I had a Tascam PortaStudio (a cheap one), a DX100, a Casio CZ101, a Yamaha drum machine (again, the cheap one) and a Yamaha QX5, which was synced to the tape.
And a Les Paul Custom.
1992-ish, bought an Atari just to run Cubase Score 2. (Watched a Torville and Dean documentary which showed them using the Cubase Score editor - it was mind blowing.)
Cubase was synced to the portastudio via SMPTE.
Then I got a PC, still syncing to the portastudio via SMPTE.
Bought a Yamaha TG33, and a Roland JV 2080 (both of which are languishing in my garage). Also bought a Korg S3 drum machine. Highly underrated, in my not so humble opinion.
Didn’t change this set up until 2010, when the portastudio died.
The S3 had died a while ago, and I was using the drum set from the TG33. The Custom had been replaced with a DeLuxe (money issues).
So, 2010, and I “upgraded” to Cubase Essentials 5.
Quickly escalated to the full Cubase, and bought HALion.
2015 and the DeLuxe was replaced with a Standard.
And now, with Cubase 14 and two million and one plugins, the (musical) world is my oyster.
Speaking of which:
What noise annoys an oyster?
A noisy noise annoys an oyster!
Boom boom, and goodnight.
