Hello! My name is Greg Jordan, and I am passionate about music and software development. I have a background in a cappella singing and software engineering. Over the years, I have developed a keen interest in music composition and engraving, particularly hymnals, and I am always eager to learn more and expand my expertise.
Until recently, I used Finale as my notation editor since 2002. I became very efficient by learning to use the keyboard over the mouse, using plugins, and Lua scripts. Today, I am a Dorico user. I often find myself quoting Master Yoda.
“You must unlearn what you have learned… Do or do not, there is no try.”
Yes, muscle memory dies hard!
I am a sci-fi/fantasy junkie, married with six children, a daughter-in-law, a future-son-in-law, and two dogs. I am also a future grandpa!
I was born and raised in Alabama. Shortly after birth, I became a fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. The love of football runs deep in my family.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have sung in barbershop quartets, gospel quartets, and choruses. I was a brass player in school, beginning with the trumpet and working my way through the low brass. I grew up singing using shape notes, Aikin 7-note.
I love Solfege.
Currently, we call Birmingham, Alabama home.
