I am a professional musician/composer/arranger residing in Seattle WA area. Main instrument is saxophones/woodwinds. I began my career as a professional musician through the eighties, nineties in Honolulu HI with a composition degree from the University of Hawaii. In the late nineties made a career change as a Microsoft Systems Engineer and recently retired from Microsoft after 15+ years and now blessed to be able to get back to what I really love doing. I spend lots of time in my home studio and recently discovered Dorico as perhaps an answer to my prayers for a notation software. For years I have tried to use finale, sibellius but end up going back to paper and pencil which has been much faster up till now. Although I am classically trained I do not work in any classical environments. Done lots of pit orchestra, pop/rock/jazz combo stuff and the primary challenge for me is using written music as an aid to efficiently pull musicians together and realize realtime performances. I rarely work with musicians that literally read only whats on the page.
