My name is Rein de Vries.
I’m a music professional (studied orchestra conducting and choral conducting) that started playing viola later in life. Ever since my student time I have worked with music notation (Professional Composer, Encore and most of the time Finale). I’ve created lots of scores, complete ones for publishing or for my ensembles or just for fun, and lots of part extractions of existing scores or facsimiles. I work as a conductor and as an editor for conductors in the neighbourhood that need transpositions or arrangements. And I play viola in orchestras and ensembles for fun. I am now 69 years old.
In Finale I could do everything I needed to, with the exception that I once tried to put the whole of a Bach Marcus Passion reconstruction score into one Finale file which rendered a File too big - error. I resolved the problem with help of Sibelius ([https://imslp.org/wiki/Special:ImagefromIndex/502380/ayte])
I decided to try Dorico to see if I can get used to it. So I started to input a bit of a larger project, because that seems to be the best way to learn and to encounter problems to be solved.
