I have no idea why bar 8 takes the whole line. I have resetted the layout.

This is really strange. Ther are no system breaks or note spacing changes anywhere.
And changing either music spacing or page margins a little bit makes Dorico reconsider everything and render the page beautifully.
I think this is some sort of an edge case which the Dorico team will need to investigate…
Indeed, I think it so happens that this very specific combination of settings is tripping up Dorico’s casting off. If you make either a small tweak to the staff size or to the left/right page margins, you’ll get a better result. Alternatively, you can add a system break at your preferred position.
