10.5.20 Keeps Crashing

I am running windows 10 home (2004)
OS build 19041.450
10.x did not use to crash, like this…
i7 9700K
32 GB RAM
1 TB SSD X2
CUBASE 10.5.20 Pro
Ever since I upgraded to 10.5.20, It’s a Joke.
the other day it crashed on Greg Ondo’s google hangout (Aug 18th 2020) and he uses a MAC!
their is something really really wrong with this :arrow_right: version !

After I downgraded my video card(GTX 1060) driver from latest to “Studio Drivers” 26.21.14.3086 it seems to be a bit more statble.
No crash today. Hope it helps someone.

It’s been 3 days no crash on Studio Drivers" 26.21.14.3086 ! use the latest studio driver and it might help your issue as well.

Day 4 Crashed While Saving My project :frowning:

Hi,

Any *.dmp file, please?

Win: Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps

I emailed the crash dump to support…

Studio Drivers is now 27.21.14.5206 I am going to try that.

I am only a hobbyist musician, I can only imagine what it’s like for people who use this professionally. I honestly regret upgrading to 10.5.X
Cubase 10.5.20.179 64bit 2020.8.5 18.06.39.501.dmp (1.01 MB)

Keeps crashing once every half an hour.
Seems to be somehow connected with the disk operations - saving, exporting, opening. But not limited to that…
Could anyone help with analyzing the crash dumps?
Where to find on Mac and whom to send to?
Thank you!

I am backing up my projects every 5 mins, it’s ridiculous…
I got new nvidia studio drivers installed
Download The Latest Official GeForce Drivers ( 27.21.14.5206 ) lets see how that works.
Can someone from Steinberg respond to the crash log? as what happened?

Hi,

This specific crash was in the MIDI Track, related to an Input. But I wouldn’t say it’s the source of all your crashes.

Could you please attach more of the *.dmp files?

@Martin.Jirsak have a look…
I don’t remember having any issues in Cubase 10.x (i had the latest version)
I deleted all the pref files and I mean all! audio interface 2i2 2nd get is still the same.
and midi input controller is still the same Impact 88+
I think Cubase 10.5.20 code needs more error handlers to be added.
it should just stop and let the user know it encountered this or that. instead of crashing if it can. I know working with hardware/plugins at that low level is tricky, easy said then done.
Cubase 10.5.20.179 64bit 2020.9.2 18.14.46.235.dmp (846 KB)
Cubase 10.5.20.179 64bit 2020.9.3 22.41.26.336.dmp (1 MB)
Cubase 10.5.20.179 64bit 2020.9.2 18.14.46.235.dmp (846 KB)

I use NVMe vs SSD and it still crashes, not as often but when, I really have something good going within Cubase musically.
or at least good to my ears. LOL!

Dear cubase team, any feedback on the crash logs?
They happened at different points…

Hi,

Every single crash is different. From this, I would say something is wrong with your system.

Could you try to reinstall Cubase, please? Make sure you:

  • Download the Full Installer.
  • Unpack the ZIP file and install from the unzipped folder.
  • Install from the setup.exe.
  • Install as administrator.
  • Install to the system (C) drive.

CAN-31436

Thanks… I’ll let you know how it goes…

so far so good no crash after a full clean install, no old Cubase install existing …
