Just snagged my upgrade. Very exciting to get started - congrats PG on another excellent release!

Cheers

Was curious about this myself. Most likely that it was fully tested (and supported) under these specific versions and not locked to them.

In examining both WaveLab 11 and 12 versions, I’ve analyzed the comparison charts available on the official Steinberg website. For WaveLab 11, you can refer to the archived.

For WaveLab 11, you can refer to the archived page: Compare the Versions of WaveLab | Steinberg

For WaveLab 12, the current comparison chart is accessible at: Compare the Versions of WaveLab | Steinberg

Now, let’s delve into a detailed comparison between WaveLab Pro 11.2 and 12 to provide a valuable resource for potential users, potentially saving them time and aiding in decision-making.

WL 11
General: DVD-Audio support
Audio Analysis: No difference
Processing: No difference
Plugins: —
Podcasting: RSS Feed
Workflow: Nothing to see here
Formats & Export: No difference

WL 12
General: —
Audio Analysis: No difference
Processing: No difference
Plugins: Black Valve, EQ-P1A, EQ-M5, Raiser, Vox Comp
Podcasting: —
Workflow: No difference
Formats & Export: No difference

Steinberg has impressively dedicated extensive efforts to enhance the plugin features throughout various WaveLab versions. Notably, in rigorous testing, it becomes apparent that some of the latest plugins, including the Piltec emulation and the Black Valve compressor, showcase rather conspicuous aliasing issues. Hopefully there’s some effort involved into solving these aliasing issues.

Yikes, you must be reading different new feature lists than I am! There are like 75+ new features in WL12 that fit all of those categories except for new podcasting features. I mean, workflow alone has tons of new features. Audio analysis has tons of great new stuff too, how did you miss all that?

i’m going through the first launch of WL 12 and it’s taking forever, of course, to scan all the plug ins… unfortunately the program has crashed and “unexpectedly quit” twice (edit, 5 times so far) during the process… i get the window telling me so, yet the plug in scanning bar is still going… so i’m just leaving it… but, no idea if it’s actually working or not

it’s 73% done scanning plugs and has unexpectedly quit 8 times so far… very curious to see if it will actually finish and be usable.

Also , i rebooted the PC , WL12 knocked out my Cubase Asio with the newly installed Asio and also my Midi interfaces .
Once i closed Cubase 13 and reopened WL12 it rescanned all my plugins again and reset WL12 to default .

One last thing , how do you turn off these Transient detector markers ,after rebooting my preferences these are automatically ON ?

AudioEditor > Edit > Magnets
Untick : Audio Starts, Audio Ends

Hi!

It can be plugins not compatible with WL 12
report back…

Ahh , such a basic thing , thanks , really appreciated , 20 years into WL and never used them  :upside_down_face:

They are new

regards S-EH

Ahhhhhh , you could of still said otherwise i wouldn’t off known

I had to force WL12 to scan Sonarworks as it stopped 5 times Sonarworks is fully upto date

IIt’s crucial to clarify that the comparison involves the ‘compare versions’ chart, not a page explicitly designed for showcasing features. Extensive modifications have been made to this page and I listed all of them. By loading both pages and conducting a side-by-side analysis, you’ll easily discern the specific aspects I’ve compared for yourself. Those comparison pages have been created by Steinberg themselves

Thank you for providing feedback. It’s of high value for me as a user who’s still trying to figure out if I need to upgrade versions.

Could this issue possibly stem from plugin incompatibility? Hopefully, it will undergo thorough investigation and resolution.

Prioritizing stability testing is essential to preemptively address such concerns and avoid potential disruptions on production systems.

yeah, not sure. it crashed 16 times during the initial launch/scan. said it “unexpectedly quit” but kept going. when it finished it seemed OK and it opens as normal now. i’m cautiously optimistic.

Well, it’s new to WaveLab 12

Do you get the same message “No Internet Connection detected” with Cubase’s Hub?

Could it be, that you have a bad internet connection?

I don’t use the internet , only on update days for the DAW , it’s not what the Box says PG i’m just asking if it’s possible to Hide the box . It’s a great update Btw :+1:

Click there and drag to the left most side:

Well done on the startup assistant, nice layout of help (which can be made invisible), showing projects that can be open, and really smart moving adding the audio connections information.
