Hello!
I am observing intermittently the dreaded white UI glitch. I get a white full screen flash, and then the playhead disappears and the UI becomes white, with components reappearing on mouse-over. The program also becomes unstable at that point.
The system has up-to-date NVIDIA drivers, the card is already set to maximum performance systemwide and VSync is on Fast for Cubase, so all the known workarounds are in place. I thought this was fixed back in the C13 days? Any info is appreciated.
I might have missed something but my latest info is that the full NVIDIA suite is well known for causing trouble. Isn’t it still recommended to use the plain and simple NVIDIA Studio driver instead?
Oh yeah but I’m not even on Studio drivers, I’m on the Windows Update-installed ones which are bare minimum, just the WHQL display adapter and the Control Panel.
Why not give it a try installing the Studio driver?
Because my card is a GTX 970, so if I get drivers from the NVIDIA website, they are only Game Ready, no Studio branch for Maxwell-based cards
Ah, okay.
So I was hoping for someone from Steinberg to chime in with what’s the status with these apparently OpenGL-related issues.
This is a user based forum. However, there is a lot of experience and expertise in this forum and Steinberg devs chime in occasionally. I am afraid this is not my field of expertise but there are others who are more knowledgeable in this area. You could also try to reach out for telephone support if noone can help you out, though. Where do you live?
Indeed, let’s see if any other user reports experience with it, I found at least a couple more instances of this issue in the forum on C14, so it seems it’s not fully fixed since the C13 days
I know very little about nvidia, but this cropped up in another forum.

Maybe roll back to an earlier driver?
560.94 here, that’s the latest if you install via Windows Update, and it is several versions behind. I am observing a possible correlation between the occurrence of the issue and Windows being in Dark Mode. They added Dark Mode support with C14, so I wonder if there might be a connection there. I have no idea what framework they are using for the native part of the UI, be it Qt or something proprietary, but it’s the only graphically-related new feature that I can think of.
