Ive just updated to 14.0.20 and I can see its added new details above the mixer window. I only need to see the channel names which are already displayed at the bottom of the mixer window. Ive tried unchecking everything in the display options but its not possible to “unshow” everything. I dont need to see this at the top of the mixers, its taking up too much screen realestate, my faders are squashed down to a ridiculous height, how can I completely remove the new bar at the top of my mixer window ? Ive included a screenshot, I want to remove the top bar above the faders
Top right of mixer, set up window layout, untick channel names. (you can untick the rest if you like but no need)
Drag the divider above the faders all the way up.
Channel Names is the one thing that can’t be covered.
Yeah, on MacOS I can’t actually unclick them all without them automatically showing up - I can get it down to “Strip” but the others auto-select back. I actually like it, so that’s fine with me, but you can just drag the fader up over the mix controls.
yeah I can drag the fader up but it still shows the top part of the strip, I cant completely remove it, so I have track names at the top AND bottom, its just wasting space
If you uncheck Channel Names then you can drag it to cover it up as shown in my screen shot.
yep, that did it, thank you ! Its such a shame you cant just completely remove it though
Glad that worked! Personally, I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. From a window positioning perspective, I can see the need for the persistence of the window structure.
I think it’s far better to have the options in combination with Workspaces. But right on!
Looks like I need to get a bigger monitor now
Go watch Dom Sigalas’s new video on the new updates and check out the monitor he’s using hah. Things gotta be at least a 55".
Ive seen it, it looks bigger than that !
I think that’s just a video effect. I saw the same thing and couldn’t believe he would actually try to mix with such a high reflective surface 2’ in front of his face. I had to very carefully measure my room correction just to properly calibrate for surround monitoring on my two 27" studio monitors and 30" center main monitor. They reflect so much sound the echo-location sensor for SoundID was actually confused about where the mic position was.
It’s non-trivial. I actually went back to Dom’s video and looked at it again just to make sure. I’m not 100%, but I’m pretty sure that’s done in post.
Nah, what we see here in Dom’s studio is not a regular oversized flatscreen. It is a humongeous old Transinstor TV and Dom stuffed tons of stone wool into the 6 foot deep Brown Tube: Dom’s very own BTM (Bass Trap Monitor).
Way ahead of its time
This guy!!!
