[2.1.18]Must reconnect remote device when changing connection

I’ve created a long list of actions for TouchOSC, the connection ist named “iPad”. I don’t know why, the connection in the device menu is set to “nc” maybe a result while using the project on two machines.

When changing the connection to “iPad” I’ve to select all actions to “iPad” again, which I did in past a few days ago.

I found a reproducible path.

  1. Set a remote connection “Network Session” on a Mac e.g. in the connections menu
  2. Learn an action via TouchOSC, volume for the first channel e.g.
  3. Check if it’s working
  4. Close and reopen VL
  5. Change the remote connection to “nc”
  6. Check if the MIDI In action from point 2 is set to connection, in my case “iPad”
  7. Close and restart VL
  8. Set connection in the connections menu back to “iPad”
  9. Check the MIDI In action is set to “iPad”
  10. Do the action on the remote device, here’s not working at now

Now I’ve to select “iPad” again in the MIDI In actions as I described above.

Cannot reproduce.
a) could you try with a different MIDI device?
b) close and reopen - did you save anything? Are you using “New Project”, or open an exsiting one?

I only have a Komplete Kontrol and an iPad.
Two buttons on Komplete Kontrol are used for next and back song actions

To try my scenario with Komplete Kontrol fails because when I set in hub and connections MIDI In 1 to nc, save the project, close and reopen VL, MIDI In 1 is set to Komplete Kontrol.

I save the actions, yes and the project.

I will try to reproduce with new project this evening.

It remembers working connections, and if the device is present, connects to it.

Actions are saved locally, and with a project. If you open a project, it will load its saved actions. When you exit VST Live, current actions are saved and restored when you open VL again with “New project”.

ok … don’t no why … here it’s not working.

  1. New project
  2. Adding iPad (network session) to the connections. iPad sends data, but nothing happened

Here’s the start action.

Back to actions iPad was already set when creating a new project.

I only have to reselect the entry iPad …

repeated question:

I didn’t have any other

Then it gets tricky. What you do (as far as we can see) works with “regular” MIDI devices. So it looks like it is specific to your device/setup.
What does the MIDI Monitor in your picture show? If you always send the same controller value, it may work only once. Try “button” instead of “toggle” maybe…
Or send us your .vlprj file and we’ll try to see if we can reproduce with another MIDI device.
