[2.1.36] Crash on Panic Button

Had a hanging note and tried to hit the “Panic” button - instant crash of VST Live.

Restarted 2.1.36, loaded my project and hit “Panic” before playing a single note, crashed again.

I tried to disable the “Reset Audio Device on Panic Button” option, no longer crashing, so looks like a problem with the audio driver reset.

Audio driver select was the built-in MacBook Pro speaker. Tried this with another audio driver (X-Live Mixer, although this also uses Core Audio). Same behavior - crash with “Reset Audio Device” enabled, no crash without.

Crash dumps attached:

2.1.36 - Crash on Panic - MacBook Pro Audio.zip (93.4 KB)

2.1.36 - Crash on Panic - X-Live Audio.zip (92.8 KB)

Works fine for me with Windows, will check Mac.

… it’s crashing directly in “Kontakt 8”. Can you please contact Native Instruments and give them your crash logs? They know what to do. They can contact me if they like.

Thank you,
Michael.

Contacted Native Instruments, they pointed me to a knowledgeable article on Kontakt crashes, see below. The first recommendation (giving the DAW, Native Access, Kontakt 8, NI Komplete and the NTK Daemon full disk access) seems to have solved the problem.

Strange that this is not set up this way by NI during program installation …
