2.2.34/5 CH10 Pan sent on Part change?

Where is this coming from?

This 2.2.34 version of VST Live has been published by error. Maybe you should try again with the 2.2.35 that is awaited this evening.

This is on Mac which @spork said was the correct version.
Regardless, it was happening with the previous version from last week, I just didn’t get round to reporting it.

Hi @CliveJ

could you please save an Archive of this project, zip it and upload it here. We will check it.

See you,
Michael.

Sure @spork !
MIDICh10Pan.vlprj (9.5 KB)
MIDICh10Pan.zip (539.9 KB)
Same with 2.2.36, however the reset to start shown in the video has fixed itself so now runs smoothly

Hi,

That’s my default layer. Have a Look to the PAN of the MIDI section : “NOT SET”

And that’s your one

PAN is "C"entered. And that’s where the PAN value is coming from.

See you,
Michael.

Hi @Spork ,

the interesting is as watching @CliveJ 's video (top most post), he just added a new LAYER clicking “+” and yes… seems it’s created with PAN “C” by default.

UPDATE: (tested now 2.2.36 OSX). Layer is created with PAN “C” by default

Oh if it were that simple…

  • unable to set Pan to Not Set, even if I type NOT SET it resets to C
  • If I pan hard left or right it still sends 63
  • If I set both Layers to input and output CH1 it still sends 63 on CH10
  • Your example has an instrument assigned to the layer.

Saw me again sooner than you thought :joy:
Btw Mac Air Intel, Sequoia 15.5

Further testing:-
I thought maybe it was because Layer input and output were set to VM1 (MIDI1=VM1). Nope - still happens with the output set to VM2.
Also - I agree with you that it doesn’t happen when an instrument is assigned to the layer.
Still can’t set Pan to Not Set even with an instrument assigned.

… because this PAN-state is saved in his default layer.

… I see. That’s a bug. Press the Ctlr/Cmd Key and click to the knob. Then it jumps back to NOT SET.

Looks like a bug. I’ll check.

Yes. I just wanted to show the Default Layer. If no user-layer was saved, it Lords that one with HALion Sonic as an Output.

Press the Ctlr/Cmd Key and click to the knob.

See you,
Michael.

Ohhh! re-saved my “default” (God knows when did I saved my default Layer) and your explanation was right (of course :D) THX for this hint!

Confusion: “No default layer” is selected in preferences - yet it still calls one up?
Default layer is saved to Project when Local is selected, but saved to Local when Project is selected.
And I would not have (consciously) set Pan when I did save the default layer. But that would have been a long time ago - maybe memory fails.

EDIT: toggle was set to audio rather than MIDI - DOH! Got it now. Thanks @fkalmus
Please lose that Audio/MIDI toggle somehow.

Hi @CliveJ !

I think it’s not Channel10, but CC#10 (PAN).

@Spork two feature request for future… if might ask such after this week:
1.a, MIDI Monitor window (pin to always on top)
1.b, MIDI Monitor (column for MIDICH and name-header for columns)
:innocent: :innocent: :innocent:

Yeah, apologies, misread the monitor

@Spork - no bugs in the pan settings - my fault/misunderstanding
Thanks for your help and sorry for wasting your time. Ditto @fkalmus
