a few days ago I started using the ENTTEC DMXIS hardware/software system again to manage the DMX lights (I have a large personal archive of programming for this system) and I discovered to my regret that the VST no longer activates communication with the hardware control unit.
Going back through the versions of VST Live 2 I discovered that up to 2.2.30 the DMXIS worked perfectly and that from 2.2.31 onwards the correct functioning was lost.
Going deeper I noticed that in the DMX Setup it is reported:
The first line is the one relating to the DMXIS device that is evidently not correctly recognized in version 2.2.31 or later, in the second line instead the information relating to the device correctly recognized in version 2.2.30.
Waiting for feedback and hoping to recover the correct functioning of DMXIS as soon as possible, thanks.
However, there is still an anomaly in the operation: in practice, if VL 2 is started after the USB device has been connected, the DMXISVST remains in the offline state, without switching to the connected state.
On the contrary, if the USB device is connected to the port after VL 2 has been started, the DMXISVST switches correctly to the connected state and starts working without problems.
thanks for your consideration, but, honestly, I didn’t quite understand what you wanted to tell me.
With versions 2.2.30 or earlier of VL 2 to obtain the correct functioning of the VSTDMXIS it was required:
Connect the hardware device to the USB port
Start VL 2 and the project containing the VSTDMXIS
The communication between the hardware device and the VSTDMXIS contained in the project starts correctly
If I apply this procedure with version 2.2.33 the hardware/VST communication does not start, which is why, with the current version, to obtain the correct functioning of the VSTDMXIS it would be required:
Keep unplugging the hardware device from the USB port
Start VL 2 and the project containing the VSTDMXIS
Connect the hardware device to the USB port
The communication between the hardware device and the VSTDMXIS contained in the project starts correctly
I hope I have better explained the behavior that I consider anomalous that I am obtaining with version 2.2.33.
Only that rescan connected devices is not a must for me this case. So I can live with connecting all devices, start VSTL and use.
(Your problem is that USB2DMX is not working when connected afterwards, right?)
No @fkalmus. my problem is that the connection between the DMXIS software (VST) and the DMXIS hardware doesn’t work when the USB device is connected before running VST Live 2.
I don’t know exactly, but consider that the reported post seems to be related to hardware recognition, while my post is related to a problem with DMXISVST and my hardware appears (from DMX Setup) correctly recognized.
I had waited with great expectations and hopes for the new version that promised the reliability lost with the latest versions.
In these days I had the opportunity to test version 2.2.44 and in fact I had no particular problems to report in its use during the tests (even the CPU spikes issue seems to have actually improved).
With great disappointment instead I had to note how, once again and despite being declared fixed in version 2.2.37 (then never released), my problem which is the subject of this topic and related to the VSTDMXIS is in the same conditions that have occurred since version 2.2.31.
This means that I had to necessarily go back to using version 2.2.30 in the hope that it will be possible to seriously fix this issue from the next released version.
what happens, despite the DMX device is now correctly recognized as reported in the DMX Setup, is that, as perhaps not sufficiently explained in past posts, the synchronization between the DMX device and the VSTDMXIS does not occur when opening VST Live 2 (the VST remains in the Offline state) and this did not happen with versions 2.2.30 and earlier.
In practice with versions 2.2.30 and earlier of VL 2, to obtain synchronization (Online status) between the DMX device and the VSTDMXIS it was sufficient:
Connect the DMX hardware device to the USB port
Start VL 2 and the project containing the VSTDMXIS
The communication between the DMX hardware device and the VSTDMXIS contained in the project starts correctly (DMXIS status is Online)
Starting from version 2.2.33, as I have tried to report many times, if I perform the procedure above, the VSTDMSIS remains in the disconnected state (Offline) after loading the project that contains it.
In order to obtain synchronization between the DMX device and the VSTDMXIS I would be forced to perform the procedure:
Keep unplugging the DMX hardware device from the USB port
Start VL 2 and the project containing the VSTDMXIS
Connect the hardware device to the USB port
The communication between the DMX hardware device and the VSTDMXIS contained in the project starts correctly (DMXIS status is Online)
What I would ask, obviously, is to have the behavior obtained with versions 2.2.30 and earlier, that is, to obtain synchronization between the DMX device and the DMXIS automatically when opening the project.
I hope to have reconstructed the story and to have provided you with all the information necessary to finally fix the issue.
