1.) I took the plunge and am in the process of bringing my songs into VST Live. After importing 60 songs from my old system, I have to report, as I have before, about issues with MIDI file text import. Out of the 60 imported MIDI files, at least 50 are displayed incorrectly in the track view. Therefore, I took the effort to create a comparison table.
While the starting positions of the text imported into VST Live are identical, I do not understand why a string made up of 2 characters has a length of 5 bars. Looking at the text in the LYRICS view, this means that two syllables of text are represented in red (my setting) with a length of 5 bars. This continues to increase until the end of the song to a staggering 53.1.0.000 bars. (Pos.1) for 3 syllables ‘mer’. The end of the last syllable should then be at bar 120.2.2.000. (Pos. 2) According to Cubase 14, however, the imported song has only 69 bars. The VST Live Track view shows this:
2.) While we are on the topic of the import function. Why are you making us create a chord track manually through painstaking detail, when you could extract this just like the text? Please provide us with a chord track, provided the user agrees to a query or dialog message. The data is already present in almost every MIDI file.
At the moment, I do not know if I should continue with my work because I have faulty lyric tracks for all the already imported MIDI files and no chord track. There are still some songs waiting for me. Please focus on this problem. I and other users would surely be very grateful for that. The lyric import from a MIDI file used to be better as well. Why solved problems keep creeping back into new versions is a puzzle to me personally. I work with Windows 10 and Windows 11. Thank you for reading.

Length of a Lyrics string is just its distance to the next one. It does not have any impact on anything anyway, except for selecting its range. But if you insert it somewhere, its length gets re-calcualted again (as before, distance to next entry, or default which is 4 bars afaik).
Please provide just one showing that issue.
That’s a bit exaggerating, but we are working on it.
What are you refering to?
VST Live does not support converting MIDI file notes into chords. There are multiple tools (incl. Cubase) which can provide that functionality. midifile format does not support chords, those need to be extracted from the notes which is beyond the scope of VST Live.

You’re right. I mistakenly used the term “chord track” from Cubase. I meant the CHORDS track from VST Live pro 2.
Here’s my question again:
Is it possible to enter Meta Event 127 (chord event) into the CHORD track at the appropriate position while reading the text from a MIDI file?
That would be very helpful if it worked.
No, it isn’t. Most MIDI files contain metadata for displaying text and chord names.
I don’t have a specific issue in mind right now. It’s more about the little things.
For example:
A long time ago, you improved the MIDI Editor so that existing time values were transferred to the dialog box when changed. This allowed you to see and change the selected data value. Now the dialog box is always empty. Most of the time, I’ve already forgotten what the original value was that I wanted to change. At some point, your improvement was no longer available in the other versions.
It is also exhausting and time-consuming for us testers to keep pointing out things that could perhaps have been avoided with a little more time spent on programming and testing. However, I have the impression that you develop very quickly and sometimes neglect to pay attention to detail.
This means that sometimes one bug is fixed and two new ones are introduced. This generates a lot of traffic in the forum and distracts you from the actual development work.
Please do not respond to my written thoughts. I have only expressed my impression, and it may not be correct.
I think VST Live is a great piece of software that I have been waiting for for many years.

Text yes (as can be imported in VST Live), Chords: no, there is no MIDIFile standard for that. Sometimes those are inserted as text (lyrics, or marker).
I am closing this issue, as version [2.2.66.465] correctly calculates the length of individual text strings.
Thanks to the developers.
Best regards
