[2.2.70.476] Audio blackout caused by [Ctrl]+[Z] key combination

@Spork
Hello
In VST Live version 2.2.70.476, the key combination causes a repeatable error in Windows 10 under certain circumstances. I have not tested Windows 11.
Do the following:
1.) Open a song with multiple audio tracks.
2.) Activate the track content. (see video)
3.) Let’s pretend you accidentally pressed the “x” key on your keyboard.
The track content has been deleted.
4.) Now press the [Ctrl]+[Z] keys and the selected track will be restored.
5.) When you start your song now, all audio tracks except one will no longer be audible.
The same thing can also happen when cutting tracks. Here, too, the [Ctrl]+[Z] key was used.
Restoring the audio paths using the panic button does not improve the situation at all for me.
Quite the opposite, in fact. The computer chugs away for more than a minute.
Pressing the space bar to start the program then produces a white screen.
After another 2 minutes, I can start the transport, but there is still no sound.
The only thing that helps is to close the program and reopen it.
Best regards
Herbert

Thank you. We could identify the problem and it is fixed with the next version.

Unfortunately, I cannot confirm any improvement for the UNDO ([Ctrl]+[Z]) problem in version 2.2.72.
On the contrary, the error pattern has now changed.
When I proceed as described above, pressing [Ctrl]+[Z] restores the track and continues playback from the pointer position.
All other tracks in the song start from the beginning.
Some further work is probably needed here.
Best regards

Hi all,
I often face a similar issue where some audio tracks of a song are not played. I never understood how it happens.
I found a trick to make the audio playback. I click on the audio event, move to left or right and move it back to his initial position and usually the audio playbacks again

Tried hard but cannot reproduce. Can delete audio clip in project with many tracks, and undo w/o problems. Maybe related to routing? What if you re-assign Song Channel output after undo (set to nc and back)?
Hello @Musicullum,
I briefly tested version 2.2.73 today on windows 10 Stage PC. I was able to reproduce the error.
I will try to create a video with sound. Please give me just a little time.

Hi @musicullum
[2.2.73.485] [CTRL+Z] Error
I have now created another video with sound. I hope that the developers will now be able to better assess what happens when [CTRL]+[Z] is pressed.
-
I simulated accidentally deleting the drum track.
Then I let the song play on for a few bars.
-
Pressed [Ctrl]+[z].
Then let the song continue playing again.
Only the previously deleted drum track plays.
After a few bars, all other tracks play the song from the beginning except for the previously deleted and restored drum track.
A transport stop followed by a start brings everything back together as it should be.
-
I did the same with the bass track.
I use the “Steinberg build in ASIO Driver.”
Best regards
Herbert
I can reproduce the error on Windows 10 and Windows 11 with version 2.2.73.485.
Got some noise from another track when applying undo. There’s something fishy, but couldn’t find it so far.
As you said, after stopping it works again, which is strange because stop/locate is applied after undo automatically.
Will check further, thanks for reporting.

Unfortunately, the behavior of the audio output in version 2.2.82.497 remains unchanged. After deleting a track and then restoring it using the [Ctrl]+[Z] keyboard shortcut, the restored track plays solo and the other audio tracks start over from the beginning.
