[2.2.81] Song Actions Settings

Over the last months I didnt had to set the “Song Actions” for each new song over and over again. All new songs that I entered used my Settings “Next Song” When “Song End Marker”. I cant remember when I had to set it manualy again - but now with 2.2.81 I hat to. Did I miss something new?

Can you try re-save your default “empty” song with that Action set maybe?

I checked the song actions for the default song, and the settings were no longer there either. Then I configured the default song accordingly and saved it again.
Then I created a new song using the default song template, and the settings were still missing there as well. See screenshot.

I confgured the Song that I saved as default Song with:
what: Next Song
When: Song end Marker
Both - Start and Endmarker are set in all my Songs.
Feels like the Song Actions are not saved.

When I configure the Song Actions in the new Song and save the Song evrything works like it should but it seems that the News Song template is not working. ?!?!

The Song Actions dialog always defaults to the current Song settings. There is “Do this for all Songs” to apply current settings to all Songs.

Following you instructions a checkd “do this for all Songs” but VL even forgets this Setting! When I create a new Song I have to do it all manualy over and over again!

There is nothing to remember! As @musicullum said, the dialog shows the Song Actions for current song. And each new song has default values - “Continue” and “Last Event End”.

@musicullum, was it a feature that we lost or did he have a beautiful dream? Last applied for all Songs become as Defaults? It would be nice indeed

If I save “do this to all songs” in the default song (template), I expect this setting to be automaticaly available for every new song right from the moment the song is created.

I tested this with 2.2.82 this morning:

  1. opend my project
  2. Song menu - new Song
  3. clickt on the new song
  4. Song menu - Song actions → what-next song, when-song End Marker, start at start marker, do this for all songs - OK
  5. Song menu - save default song
  6. Song menu - delete song
  7. Song menu - new Song
  8. Song menu - Song Actions - NOTHING

What do I miss here?

Where did you read that the saving default song saves song actions?

What would be the point of setting “do this for all songs” when not in the song template? When I have to set it manually to all songs is necessary the checkbox itself makes no sence

I see what you mean… I think that is a bit more complicatedand I have a guess…
Me… (and agreed a few os us) requested (I req.'d it long-long time ago first) to save SongEndActions with Setlists instead of song.

Telling example: In one setlist, I would like to start next song immediately… meanwhile in an other setlist, I keep some speach after or before a given song. Depends only the Setlist, not the song itself. Maybe developers started to coding this under the hood (might I be right @musicullum ? and that means, “default song” shouldn’t contain “song actions” data).

I thought we’d agreed that SongEndActions should override that stored in the Song, for those of us that don’t use SetLists.

I don’t know what is the situation, also yes, I remember that… maybe DefaultSongSave never saved SongActions at all as @ArthurNeeman wrote. I don’t remember.

You work on project, not on all projects at the same time, right? The term “all songs” mean all songs in opened project, not the songs you probably will create after a year or later. This is the turning point of understanding. So I’m sure that avoiding to store song actions into default song is the best solution.

will we start a poll?
Steinberg is this your tool?

…is really complex, and so much more to do.

Lost track in this thread (given 70 more are open).

What should be saved where and when, is there any common opinion?

Not with setlists for now, that is too much.

My opinion is the same as Arthur’s.
