Creating a short score for study I ran in to the following issues with condensing:
First off I have two identical trumpet lines. The only difference is that 1st player has cup mute and 2nd has harmon. This makes the first phrase look awkward like this. Is there a way to make one common text frame that reads:
“1. cup mute
2. harmon mute”
Second issue is that I would like the trombones to just read 4 Trombones. Is there a way to do that?
No, at the present time there’s no way to do either of those things. You can probably hide the existing separate playing techniques via the Properties panel in Engrave mode, but you can’t add text to a condensed staff; if you want to do this at the end of the layout process you could add it in a text frame.
As for showing just “4 Trombones”, I agree this is something that it would be good for Dorico to support, but it’s not something that the program can do today.
