We run 4 videos, audio, MIDI, and DMX w/o problems. It depends much on the type of video, though.
Video takes time to preload, more or less depending on the video file type. While we are working on improving that, there is preload time (especially with FlexLoops) which cannot be avoided.
If you run just one audio track, there is no significant readout of the CPU meter to be expected.
Thanks for your reply. I’m shure it works well for you. Well I hope so.
I don’t think it’s a preload problem.
I’m still in trial period, it’s a good thing I could try it.
I don’t know what to say as I have no problem on Cubase and QLC+ with these videos. Besides I haven’t seen encoding recommandation on the manual. But I can share the specs of the videos if it’s useful for you.

… can you give us access to your project? Use the “VL / Menu / File / Save Archive …” function with an empty folder. Zip that folder and give it to us. If you don’t want to share in public, send me link as a PM. Then we can analyse the problem.
I have been having the same issue on Windows but have been able to resolve it using HandBrake, after lots of experimentation. Prior to fixing the problem, videos would play well with Windows media player, even while VST Live was playing, however the media displayed by VST live was choppy and dropping frames.
The fix is simple and HandBrake is free. Load your master video in HandBreak. I usually disable audio in the Audio settings but the key to removing the problem is selecting the “Fast Decode” option in the Encoder Options (See screenshot). This makes it easier on the CPU to decode the file.
