2nd flute repeatedly causing force quit!

Hi there,

Nearly every time I want to log out of Cubase it gets stuck on the 2nd flute part and I end up having to force quit. Has anyone else had this glitch? Does anyone have any thoughts please? I always save first before trying to log out.

The issue is likely caused by corrupted preferences. A damaged folder containing program settings often prevents the program from closing properly. You should therefore reset your preferences. Close Cubase via the Task Manager. Navigate to %APPDATA%\Steinberg (on Windows) and rename the folder corresponding to your Cubase version (e.g., to Cubase_alt) so that Cubase creates a fresh one. Once everything is working correctly, you can delete the Cubase_alt folder.

can you be more specific, please? What is the second flute part? VST instrument (which one) or audio track, insert effects involved etc. How do you know it’s the 2nd flute part causing the issue (screenshot)?

@Alfo Renaming/deleting the preference folder usually is a last resort. It’s best you use a prefix like “x_”. Moreover, you also need to rename previous folders two versions prior to the latest version, too. And there’s the question of saving personal settings.
I wish I had your confidence when it comes to identifying the root of an issue right on the spot… :wink:

I am in no way confident about anything to do with Cubase! The reason I mention the 2nd flute part, which is a VST, is that this is what I see :

I have not tried to reset the preferences, it sounds very much more than I could manage…

There is zero point in blindly resetting prefs - You can tell Cubase to open with no set prefs as a test first - by holding cmnd-shift-option as soon as you set it opening - Worth a try but I suspect won’t make any difference in this case.

You should answer the rest of the questions Reco asked above to try and narrow down the issue

You don’t give any info on what vsti you’re using. Flute 2 is no info at all. Is it an orchestral library running in kontakt, what is it? Do you really expect people to be able to help with such a request?
