[3.0.14] – Automatic Save not working (lost a full day of work)

Hi,
I’ve encountered a serious issue with VST Live Pro 3.0.14 regarding the Automatic Save function.

I had set the autosave interval to 10 minutes, which is very important for me because VST Live often crashes after a certain number of edits — for example when adding new tracks dragged from Cubase 14 into VST Live Pro 3.
Until now, I’ve always avoided data loss by manually saving frequently.

Unfortunately, today I relied on the autosave feature and worked on several Setlists for the entire day.
When I reopened the project, none of the changes were saved, except for the Setlists where I had performed a manual save.

This means I lost a full day of work, and I’m honestly very discouraged by this.

Could you please check whether the autosave function is currently broken or if there is any known issue related to it?

Thank you.

Hi @Gianluca_D,

Oh - could you share a bit more information? Do you have any crash files/logs? Those are always very helpful for us. Also, is the crash reproducible? If so, could you share the steps to reproduce it (even roughly)?

I’m really sorry to hear that — losing a full day of work is incredibly frustrating. I completely understand your disappointment. I tried to reproduce the Auto-Save issue here, but couldn’t. These are my steps:

  1. Start VST Live, New Project
  2. Open Preferences, select STUDIO and select 10 Minutes for “Auto Save”.
  3. Save Project
  4. Close VST Live
  5. Start VST Live and open Project from [3]
  6. Go to TRACKS
  7. Add Audio Track
  8. Wait 10 minutes, then close VST Live
  9. Start VST Live and load the project again

Everything looks fine on my end: the Audio Track is there after reopening, so Auto-Save seems to work as expected.

That’s why I’m a bit confused. You also reported two other forum entries where fundamental functions appear not to work:

Sorry to ask, but can you please double-check that you’re really running VST Live 3.0.14? We added a version hint to the main project window — do you See it?

See you,
Michael,

Yes, that’s the version I’m using, and I can see it exactly where you indicated. I’m not sure if this is relevant, but I currently have both version 3 and version 2 installed. I haven’t removed version 2 yet because I wanted to compare how version 3 behaves. Do you think this could have any impact on the issue?

… no. Please check the other thread about restartig, screen Recording. Maybe we will find out more with that one.

Michael.

Transport running at auto save time maybe?
