3.0.30.157 Playing files from other songs

Loving VSTL so far, but it’s started playing audio files from other songs, in with the song I’m listening to. Not all the songs do this, not sure how many, maybe 4 or 5? 44k, MP3 files, in W11. For several weeks it worked just fine. I only have audio files in this project, which is 80 songs. Also sometimes when I go back to a song, an audio file is missing. I’m a newbie so still learning this. Thanks for any help!

Can you take a screenshot on any song where you have a missing audio by opening:
Song / Song Media Files / Audio

C is the one missing. This is also one of the ones that’s messed up, in this one though the whole song it’s playing is wrong, and not what I imported. In the others it’s only one wrong audio file mixed in. Not sure why it says wav, they are mp3s, Thanks

So I deleted and dragged in the audio files again (I checked to make sure they were correct before), now the track sounds correct, but the wave forms are wrong. B & D have no sound where the cursor is, but the wave is showing sound. Also C has sound, but is showing nothing….Thanks

Closed down VSTL, opened up, and it’s now correct.

So after re-dragging in the files talked about above. I checked it, sounded correct. I fixed another one that was messed up, sounded correct. Closed down, opened up and the 1st one now sounds like the 2nd, but only the tracks that are named the same. I use all the same abbreviations: B - bass, D - drums, C- click, etc. I’ve done this for most of the 80 songs, could this be the problem? I don’t know why the others are ok though or why it just started? Thanks

As far as I know. VSTL stores all audio files in one folder. So if you drag in a file with the same name, it will overwrite the existing one. But I’m not quiet shure, but remember another thread, where users recommended to use unique names for each file. Good practice use format <song_name>_<file_name>

In Preferences, Tracks there is a setting “Import - copy file to Project” which is turned on by default. Turn it off and you can place your files where you want.

If you move your existing files out of their current location VSTL will ask you for their location - so it is possible to restructure an existing Projects file.

The track pictures are generated when the file is imported or VSTL detects that the file has changed (usually at Project load, I believe)

its the filing system, I have to make sure tracks are not named the same in other songs.
for instance.
”Bass Agadoo” for 1 song
”Bass Reet sed fred” for another.

Also you might want to make a seperate folder for each song, even though that does not help with the mis management of all the other files… tempo, chord, lyric rack…..etc…
