Hello everyone,
I am experiencing a major issue with the Audio Export feature in VST Live Pro version 3.0.46.260.
The Problem:
When I try to export a project to either MP3 or WAV, the resulting file is completely corrupted. It contains severe digital clipping, random bursts of loud noise, and unexpected dropouts/silence.
My Setup & Testing:
- OS: Tested on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 (same corrupted results on both).
- Audio Interfaces/Drivers: Tested using a Universal Audio Apollo x6 (with official ASIO drivers) and also with ASIO4ALL. The bug occurs identically regardless of the audio interface or driver used.
Important Details & Workaround:
- Backward Compatibility: If I take the exact same project file (
.vslrp) and open it using VST Live 2, the audio export works perfectly. The rendered WAV/MP3 files are completely clean.
- Since the project opens and exports fine in version 2, this rules out any project corruption or driver incompatibility with my system.
- The bug seems strictly related to how the offline rendering engine handles the mixdown process in VST Live 3.
Is this a known bug in build 3.0.46? Are there any specific settings (like multicore processing or buffer size tweaks) that I should change to fix this offline rendering issue in version 3?
Any help or official hotfix regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
UPDATE with critical details:
I noticed another severe behavior when this bug occurs. The issue doesn’t just corrupt the exported file, it completely breaks the VST Live audio engine and freezes the audio interface communication.
- **Audio Engine Lock: ** Immediately after attempting an export, VST Live’s playback goes into extreme distortion and outputs heavily degraded, artifact-ridden audio.
- Frozen Meters: The main audio mixer meters get completely stuck at maximum volume (clipping hard), even when the transport is stopped and no audio is playing.
- The Fix: The audio system remains completely broken until I manually click “Panic Reset Audio Device” or restart the software entirely. After the reset, the real-time playback goes back to normal (until I try to export again).
This clearly indicates that the offline rendering process causes a massive buffer/driver feedback loop that completely crashes the audio engine stream.
I can confirm the buggy export on Mac as well. Here, it doesn’t affect regular playback though. Defs are already notified.
@Valerio_Sgargi, If exporting is currently mandatory, use 2.2.118 or 3.0.38. All newer versions do clips and gaps. The developers can reproduce it, so it’s on its way to being fixed. It’s Friday today!
While not fixed you can use 3.0.46 for playback and managing your project, but for exporting install 2.2.118, load your project, export, don’t save (!!!), then use 3.0.46 and import bounced/exported clips.
We fixed the issue and it should be solved with the next version.
