I want to create a 4-channel track (or aux bus fed by 4 mono tracks) in Cubase that will be suitable for recording the dual outputs of 2 Austrian Audio OC818 microphones, with the Austrian Audio Stereo Creator Plug-in. I have had the following response from Austrian Audio, but am still unsure how I would create the relevant tracks in Cubase. Any advice would be much appreciated…
“With StereoCreator & 2x OC818s - You need a track with 4 channels of audio for the plugin to work. Some software allows you to create a track with 4 channels of audio, others you have to create a quad bus fed by 4 mono tracks. I believe this is possible in Cubase, but I’m not as familiar with the software to know the most efficient way to achieve this. I imagine there will be instructions online for creating quad tracks / busses.”
Hi Martin, many thanks for your reply. I’ve created a LRCS channel (and LRCS input bus), but the Stereo Creator Plug-in seems to be seeing it as a stereo track, as the options for M/S and Blumlein are grayed out, as seen in the screenshot.
Hi, no…the reason for the plug-in is to manipulate the polar pattern of the 2 microphones from the dual outputs (front and back capsules on both mics), after recording. I think I can see the problem…the attached screenshot shows that the insert routing editor is not allowing LRCS to be selected as a routing option for the plugin.
LRCS makes no sense in this case. It is for Dolby Pro Logic like surround signals. So it expects a decorrelated signal on S and the stereo signal on LR and the C was for dialogue only.
