5.1 Downmix

When mixing 5.1 to An LTRT (Stereo) In Nuendo The output channel from Nuendo It a 5.1 Output channel. using either Nugen Downmix Or Surcode 5.1 to make an LTRT When Rendered Will it down mix to just a stereo file? Because Surcode / Nugen Downmix sends out a poly audio file of 6 channels, And only 2 are used. So I have to split the Poly files to extract the stereo files. Make sence??? HAHAHA I need to take a 5.1 mix and downmix to a LTRT ( Stereo) with out spiting the 5.1 channel output. Is there a downmix function In Nuendo yo do this funtion? Thanks Steven

LtRt was added in a recent version, maybe v13, can’t remember.

Search the manual for it. You basically just downmix it natively with “mixconvert” v6 as a panner instead of using a third party plugin.

For a stereo downmix from 5.1 to stereo I route the signal to a 5.1 bus, use the plugin MixConvert V6 and send this signal to a stereo bus.

This was about LT/RT though, not LoRo.

For downmix to LoRo there’s not even a need for MixConvert unless you want to change settings. Just routing to a stereo output will give you a proper downmix automatically. Again, for LoRo.

You are totally right.

In what context is LTRT even used nowadays?
Never got asked for one.

“Used”? No idea. But I actually had to deliver LTRT along with 5.1/stereo with stems for a series just a couple of months ago. I bet a lot of the time the user of the term is probably ‘legacy’, they never use it, or they think it is equal to regular stereo (LoRo).

Now that it’s easier than ever to do in Nuendo I never ask if that’s what they want, I just give it to them.
