6/8 (3/4) Polymeter

Greetings -

I’m engraving the Ravel string quartet. In the second movement the time signature is 6/8 (3/4). All players shift meters at various times. I’ll set it to 6/8 and force durations for 3/4 passages, but how can I create the time signature as 6/8 followed by 3/4 in parentheses?

Thanks.

[Would you accept the look of Dorico’s interchangeble time signature?] EDIT: See John K Price’s response below for a solution with the 3/4 in parentheses.

Also, you can opt/alt - enter time signatures on individual staves, so you won’t have to force any beaming.

Press Shift-M to open the time signature popover. Then type
6/8 (3/4)
with a space before the left parenthesis. Finally, press Return.

Doh! I tried that but must have misfired when typing it in. Thanks!

Both issues resolved within minutes of my post! My score will be littered with signposts but this is definitely the best solution.

Thanks!

Remember that showing/hiding signposts is an easy toggle.

Yeah - I have a key command for that

It’s one of my most-used Stream Deck buttons — I’ve probably worn it down!
