9.5.1 Crash on start, whenever assign UR44 in Studio>Sertup>VST Audio

Greetings all…
Basic story: Had been using Cubase 6 for years. Bought a UR44 2 years ago. PC crashed. Dead. Then I bought a new iMac in Dec 2017, tried to re-load 6 and figured out that you can’t get there from here. I’d be happy if I could.

Decided to splurge, so downloaded trial version of 9.5. Looks awesome. But… Every time it started up, it crashed just as it was loading up. Not to mention the frustrating repeating error message about “Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip”, over. And over. And over.

During one of those start ups, I stupidly changed the VST audio to internal audio, hoping that would work. It did, and it will start. But now I can’t access the UR44. And when I go back into Studio>Studio Setup>VST Instruments and choose the UR44, it crashes the second I hit the Return button.

I then went and downloaded the new 9.5.1, as well as upgraded to High Sierra, hoping that was the fix. Nope. Still crashes immediately upon selecting UR44 as VST.

I’m an old fart, and I’m going around in circles between eLicenser and Steinberg.net license management, and the UR44. Mind numbing.

Ready to kill myself, because I do know it’s awesome, once it’s working.

Long term Cubase user here, but new to 9.5.

I have exactly the same problem with a brand new high spec PC. Brand new Cubase 9.5 Pro & UR824 bought as a ‘recording pack’ and have been using it for about a week.
I have installed and registered the software, including the Basic FX Suite and used the latest Yamaha Tools download package over the include CD.

After about a week of use I got the error - application rev-x vst 3 has caused the following error - a required licence has been disabled. Please verify your local date settings and start the elicence Control Center to validate.

Which I have done many many times.

For the past few days I’ve ‘managed’ to somehow get it going, by repeating that process. Which I’ve had to do every time I restart Cubase, until today.

Cubase hangs, so I have to ‘end process’, reboot and try again.

Now today, there is one very importent project I’m due to work on, but I can’t even open the project. I can open projects which do not have the Rev-X VST, but not the ones that do.

I opened a support ticket about 3 or 4 days ago, but i’m yet to get a response.

Please help! I’ve spent a lot on this audio specific PC AND the DAW Cubase & the UR824 and really need to work on this project.

Hi,

If it’s a license issue, start eLCC as adminitrator and run Maintenance.

Many thanks for your reply.
I have tried to run the eLCC as an administrator, but it didn’t seem to work.

My workaround was to open a different Cubase project that doesn’t use the Rev-X VST and then add the plugin to that project. Then I can open the project I wish to work on. Closing the 1st project, which also activates the working project.

Having read your message. I ran the eLCC as admin and Cubase fired up properly, as it should.

So, many thanks again! I’ll see how it goes for the next few days and post when back if it reoccurs again or if its fixed for good.

Fingers crossed as I’m looking into adding Absolute 3 to my system.

The ‘run as admin’ seemed to do the trick. However today when I tried to open an older project it came back. I also have the same problem with Groove Agent.
I’ve since used my workaround to keep the work flow going, but it doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I’m wondering if it due to registering/activating initially NOT as admin. When Cubase locks up, I lose my Yamaha ASIO driver too so full end process and reboot is necessary.

Got a respond from Steinberg support so thats a start, although they have just said that I hadn’t used my Download Access Code, which I had and I had also posted a screenshot of such.
