Yes, it will. You’ll have to use this Mute command:
Yes, that’s the default key command assigned to “M”.
Maybe @AlanP reassigned this key command or deleted it? Unless you actively changed this default key command the above mentioned procedure should work.
Thanks @Reco29, @Johnny_Moneto, I haven’t consciously changed my key commands. I didn’t know about M actually, that in itself helps speed things up.
Bu I finally worked it out. I’ve been trying to use the function in the Mixer itself. But the functionality works as described only in the main Project track listing! Phew, glad it works somewhere. Having it work in the Mixer would be sensible though? The original post mentions Q-Link, which is a Mixer thing..
It does work nicely in the Project main track listing, and if you select e.g. 5 tracks with two pre-muted and three not, it inverts the mute state of whatever is selected, which is useful.
I wonder if it’s worth a feature request to Steinberg to implement it in the Mixer?
Now, back to the “what is this PLE thing” idea… Thanks, everyone.
I just saw your post, it took me forever to figure this out. I don’t know why this isn’t implemented in the mix console? That is where I do most of my A/B-ing. I do this quite often while mixing. I will quickly duplicate a track and change my plugin chain and I want to A/B to see if it is better or not. It’s not uncommon for me to think I have made something better then A/B it and nope, original was better.
I think I will raise a feature request, this is not the first time nice features only work from Project Track window. Setting multiple tracks colour l at the same time is another… But this one is more important I think.
@m.c I should be more confident that I know the answer to this but since I’m not - could you assign this to the M key command and have it work in this way?
Thanks.
Certainly. Though I always prefer to keep “default” shortcuts.
Going to explore the PLE approach! Would the M keystroke applied to the PLE also work with MixConsole 2 etc?
Here’s my MixConsole pair of feature requests:
I think so, yes.
