A bug where 'Playback' and 'Stop' causes Cubase to scroll down on 'notepad'

whenever i try to play and stop for multiple re-recordings, the notepad keeps scrolling down randomly without me having clicked on the notepad. this has been a bug since forever and i’ve never seen it get addressed.

I watched your video about a dozen times and while I can see stuff moving around, beyond that it’s not clear what is or should be happening.

Based on your description I’d be suspicious of a legacy MIDI device triggering Commands.

Even though you haven’t clicked on the Notepad, does it assume Focus?

no, it does not assume focus. otherwise, my cursor would be on the notepad and i won’t be able to re-record repeatedly. as you can see from the frames, it executes ‘select all’ and then somehow scrolls down the page as if i had pressed spacebar on a chrome browser.

i have no midi devices connected to my RME nor PC.

So it’s scrolling when it doesn’t have focus - that is puzzling. Do you initiate your recordings by clicking on the GUI or do you use a Key Command?

Do you work exclusively with audio?

Double check your MIDI setup under Studio to verify nothing exists there. Perhaps a virtual port or output from a plug-in is causing problems.

When the scrolling occurs, does it happen during a specific portion of your workflow, or does it seem more random?
