Is it at all possible to place parens around ties? (Probably not, so what might be the most efficient graphic near equivalence?)
I’m sure I’m missing some things, but am having problems with tie related Engraving Options…
Is there a way to preset the start point of an lv tie when it is attached to the lower note of a 2nd, and align it with the top tie?
In chords with interval distant “groups”, is there a way to have uniform tie length within each group, but that length different between the groups? (I’m guessing input in different voices and then playing with stem direction and length, but anything available with option choices?)
Is it possible to have two lvs coming off the end of a 2-note tremolo (as though coming off a single 2-note chord?)
Sorry if any of these question has been answered already! But thanks!!
My preferred way to add parens is to attach text items to those beats, and for each one, turn off collision avoidance and position in engrave mode (as well as shortening the ties where necessary). Once you have one set, you can copy it to other beats and it retains its properties, so you can just shift it by half spaces vertically, etc.

I guess you’re already using Engraving Options > Ties > Ties on chords > Length of ties in chords → Uniform, which only shortens some ties to make them all match, as you’ve illustrated. I prefer the “Allowed to vary” setting myself. To make separate “groups” I would use the latter setting and adjust from there. And none [edit: only 2] of the 60+ tie settings apply to l.v. ties. We still have to adjust those individually.
For a 2-note tremolo like the screenshot, you can just add l.v. ties to both notes, flip the second one up, and move the first one way over.
Thanks, Mark. Basically, all of these questions on a manual basis. The only thing that surprises me about that (a little) is that no tie-related options apply to lv’s, but oh well…
They are all available in Engrave mode…
Oops, not quite correct. Two of the settings do apply to l.v. ties, both for default length.
Janus,
Sorry that I wasn’t clear… I meant definitions in the Engraving Options carrying over from standard ties to lv’s. (And thanks for the input!)
